A truly contemporary artist, Franky Wah’s music epitomises the exhilarating power of club
culture. Born and raised in Yorkshire, in the north of England, Franky has an intuitive
understanding of emotion, dance floor energy and catchy hooks culminating in a sound that
resonates with both the underground and more commercial ends of the dance music
spectrum. A series of chart-topping releases have catapulted him into the public eye, where
he’s picked up a dedicated fanbase, as well as backing from his peers and idols. Franky
Wah’s broad pallet employs influences from trance, breakbeat, afro-house, techno and
beyond to create a sonic identity that sits at the apex of what modern dance music is all
about: diversity, unity and a progressive outlook. On the road he has appeared at clubs and
festivals across the world, including shows in Mexico and Dubai plus Glastonbury, Hideout
and Creamfields. Franky also runs his own label, events company and clothing brand under
the name “SHÈN”, which provides a liberating space for him to release new music, as well
as giving his support to other artists.
A Yorkshireman through and through, Franky Wah has a down-to-earth attitude, a savvy
mindset and a consistently high work ethic, all of which intersect at the foundation of his
success. His can-do outlook and entrepreneurial spirit led to the acquisition of several
businesses after he left college, but music has always been his one true love, as he now
focuses fully on his burgeoning music career.
As a youngster Franky caught the music bug through west coast hip hop. A few years later
he discovered artists like Roger Sanchez, Paul Johnson and Sasha among others, and fell
head over heels for dance music – one of his key influences being ‘Saltwater’ by the
legendary Chicane. By his late teens he was spending all his spare time learning how to
make music on a ‘crappy’ laptop in his garden shed. From there he progressed to the
famous Music Factory in Rotherham before finally setting up his own studio in Doncaster,
where he has been meticulously cooking up recent hits.
Franky first found his place on the map due to the backing of legendary Radio 1 DJ Annie
Mac on his 2020 hit ” “Come Together”. The record was triumphantly supported by those at
Radio 1, spending nearly 6 weeks on the station’s “A-List” and earning the formidable title of
“lockdown anthem”. This release on Sony’s Ministry of Sound imprint led to worldwide
recognition in the masses and proved the DJ as being to watch in the emerging dance
space. Fast forward 2 years and Franky launches his own label, ‘SHÈN Recordings’, born
out of a desire for pure creative freedom and a wish to further the connection in his craft to
that of his Chinese heritage, with the word itself being a reference to the spiritual dimension
of the mind.
Throughout the small amount of years the label has so far been active, SHÈN Recordings
has made itself home to multiple third party artists including the likes of Sasha, Cristoph and
Shadow Child to name a few, as well as being the now standard imprint for all of Franky’s
own releases. Alongside the label, SHÈN took up residence in Ibiza for 16 weeks in 2023,
marking it a debut residency for Franky and one of many SHÈN branded shows to grace the
globe since the brands inception.
If running a new label and events business wasn’t enough, Franky has also recently dived
head first into luxury fashion with SHÈN Presents Clothing. In his own words, “SHÈN

a relaxed but elevated consciousness. Our products can be styled with complete versatility
thanks to their timeless essence”
Over the past few years each success has spurred Franky on to work harder, spending
hours in the studio and building up a huge store of unreleased material. The culmination of
his recent endeavours was the 2022 mixtape “This Is SHÈN” – a selection of new tracks
available separately and in a mixed format. This marked an important moment in his upward
trajectory as he sets his stall out, showcasing the breadth of his capabilities. The mixtape
contains 27 tracks, showcasing Franky’s uncanny ability to draw from various influences to
create his own unique style. This mixtape served as an insight into the sounds of SHÈN, and
gave listeners a first hand preview of what to expect from SHÈN in the near future.
Even though he’s notched up a seriously impressive list of achievements and accolades
already, Franky is keeping a level head, staying focused and dedicating his energy to
cultivating a meaningful legacy. With years of hard work already behind him, this is by no
means an overnight success and he is intent on achieving longevity while maintaining his
credibility. With his natural talent, armoury of dance floor weapons, positive attitude and high
work ethic, there’s no doubt that Franky Wah will achieve an enduring legacy and a whole lot
