Yonzi presents Safri Sounds
Yonzi’s music style includes deep, afro, tech, melodic house and techno vibes with solid baselines, often accompanied by AfroTech features and undertones. Yonzi’s sets are influenced by his background and experiences. He moved to the United States 7 years ago and lives in Philadelphia. Before that Yonzi spent 10 years in the bustling city of Tel Aviv. He was born in Johannesburg, South Africa and raised in a multicultural environment. Yonzi grew up with a passion for dance, house and electronic music, as well as African music, Kwaito and afro house. He started DJing at house parties and school functions in 2001 and in the mid-2000s progressed to nightclubs. Yonzi organized events at some of Joburg’s hottest clubs and worked with South Africa’s top talent, many of which are internationally recognized DJ/producers. After spending years focusing on his studies and career, Yonzi got back into DJing during the pandemic.
